Shock Wave Treatment or Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT®). Shock wave treatment applied to an area of chronic inflammation may enable acute inflammatory mediators to be released, facilitating appropriate progression of healing. It will help repair cells to home to the area.
Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals. More scientifically, it is thought that sound waves damage tissues to induce microtrauma, which stimulates the healing process by attracting blood vessels and nutrients to the site. The sound waves also inhibit pain receptors.
We use a non-invasive 20-minute EPAT® treatment which has minimal discomfort and virtually no risks or side effects. The shock waves stimulate metabolism, enhance blood circulation and accelerate the healing process.
We use EPAT® treatments for Acute or Chronic Tendon Injuries such as Achilles Tendonitis, Posterior Tibial Tendonitis, Anterior Tibial Tendonitis and Peroneal Tendonitis.) We also use EPAT® for Plantar Plate Injuries and Plantar Fasciitis.
